England’s dramatic comeback in the round of 16 against Slovakia earned them a Quarter Finals spot with Switzerland.
England Captain, Harry Kane scored the extra time winner against Slovakia in the round of 16 on Sunday at the Veltins Arena.
Slovakia took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal from Ivan Schranz as his goal seemd likely to eliminate England who were one of the favorites and runner up at the last Euros.
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham scored the equalizer in the last minute of added time with a spectacular bicycle kick in the middle of the box to force extra time.
Harry headed in the winner in the first minute of extra time as England avoided one of the biggest shocks in the history of the Euros.
England dominated the second half in search for an equalizer and hit the post through Declan Rice’s long range effort late on. Also Phil Foden had a goal ruled out for offside by VAR and Kane missed a golden opportunity when heading wide from close range.
England will play Switzerland in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 in Duesseldorf after bouncing back to beat Slovakia 2-1 after extra-time on Sunday. Gareth Southgate’s team were on the verge of an embarrassing exit but Jude Bellingham’s stoppage-time bicycle kick and a Harry Kane header early in extra-time took England through to the next round.
