India won the final of the five match T20I series against Zimbabwe by 42 runs in Harare on Sunday, clinching the series by 4-1.
Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson scored an important 58 off 45 deliveries, along with his 65-run partnership with his IPL franchise teammate Riyan Parag (22 runs), helped India post a competitive total of 167 for 6.
Indian pacer Mukesh Kumar took 4/22 and all-rounder Shivam Dube chiped in with 2/25, successfully restricted Zimbabwe to 125 in 18.3 overs, sealing the win for the visitors.
India lost both their openers Jaiswal & Abhishek Sharma and captain Gill while batting first, within the first five power play overs, leaving them in a precarious position at 40/3.
However, Samson and Parag’s partnership sailed the innings on their shoulders and laid the foundation for a defendable total.
Mukesh Kumar’s four wickets meant that India restricted Zimbabwe to 125/10 resulting in a 42-run victory in the fifth of the five-match T20I series in Harare on Sunday.
Sunday’s victory was India’s fourth win in a row, all completed in comfortable fashion.
The Men In Blue will next take on Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka in a bilateral tournament as their next assignment.
