
South Africa crushes Afghanistan and enters in to the World Cup Finals, their first in the history.
South Africa beat Afghanistan by nine wickets in the first semifinal of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago.
Afghanistan were reduced to a paltry 56/10 in 11.5 overs. For South Africa, Tabraiz Shamshi took 3/6 in 1.5 overs, Marco Jansen took 3/16 in 3 overs and Anrich Nortje took 2/7 in 3 overs.
South African batsmen convincingly chased the score in 8.5 overs with Reeza Hendricks scored 29*(25) and captain Aiden Markrem scored 23*(21).
This is the first time that a South African Mens Cricket team have reached to a major world cup finals. It was a very emotional moments for everyone in the dressing room. Former South African pacer Dale Steyn had a very teary eyes.
They are waiting for their opponents between the second Semifinals to be played between India and England, the two best team in the tournament.
South Africa might lift the world cup if they perform in the same way the performed against Afghanistan.
They will be underdogs in the final to be played on 29th June 2024 at Kensington Oval Stadium, Bridgetown, Barbados.
