T20 World Cup final, India vs South Africa: Clash of the Titans

India are gearing up for their second World Cup final in seven months as they take on South Africa in the T20 title clash in Bridgetown, Barbados today evening at 8.00 pm IST.

Desperate to move on from their 2023 ODI World Cup final defeat to Australia on home soil, India will face South Africa as the month-long T20 World Cup in the U.S. and the West Indies comes to an end.

Heading into finale, India and South Africa have both been unbeaten in this tournament so far.

India and South Africa finished on top of their respective groups and earned similar results in the Super Eights stage. In the semi-finals, India defeated title holders England while South Africa thrashed minnows Afghanistan.

India are aiming to lift the trophy for the second time after winning the inaugural edition in 2007. The men in blue haven’t won any silverware since the 2013 Champions Trophy and last won a World Cup at the 2011 50-over edition.

Meanwhile the Proteas will be playing in a World Cup final for the first time after seven previous World Cup semi-final defeats in all formats (five in ODI World Cups and two in T20 World Cups).
