
UK’s Labour Party sweeps the General Elections with 326 seats out of the 650 member House of Commons. Labour Party leader Keir Starmer will be appointed the Prime Minister later today. Hi Party lead with 410 seats while the outgoing Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party won only 119 seats.
Keir Starmer stated “Tonight people here and around the country have spoken, and they’re ready for change,”
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak conceded his Party’s defeat in the 2024 General Elections on Friday and congratulated Labour Party Prime Minister Candidate Keir Starmer following the election loss.
Conceding defeat, Rishi Sunak said, “Today, power will change hands in a peaceful and orderly manner, with goodwill on all sides. That is something that should give us all confidence in our country’s stability and future,” He also said while addressing his supporters in Richmond and Northern Allerton. “I am sorry. I take responsibility for the loss,” he added.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s last-minute attempt to sway voters fell short as his Conservative Party lost the UK General Elections. Ahead of voting, the Conservatives warned voters that opting for Labour would lead to higher taxes.
The Conservatives absorbed the shock of a historic defeat in the last 14 years and will likely to spark a contest to replace Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as leader.
